The newspaper remains the most powerful source of storytelling on the planet. But technology threatens its very existence. To survive, the Editor must transform, adapt, and manage the newsroom in a new way. My session is all about how we tell stories specifically for mobile devices, including long pieces, investigative reports. How to do the complete package; what I call slicing the melon which is the promotion of the story before it’s written, push notifications, social media, then how to present the story and the techniques that make reading long pieces easier on mobile devices. And, indeed, we now have the research to support that people are reading long narratives on the phone.
