Essays, narrative journalism, portraits and more investigative stories told in first person? Yes, I love it. I really do. And so does readers around the globe. Narratively (US) has huge success with their personal stories and confessional journalism, The New Yorker and The New York Times regularly publish essays, and the feature stories and more analytical pieces from De Correspondent (NL), Zetland (DK) and Vice (DK/US) are often characterized with a present I- reporter. In this section I will focus on first person-journalism in different genres, based on a variety of examples and storytelling approaches – and hopefully give a lot of take-aways, that you can bring back home and practice yourself.
